Across the Universe was a live-action flick released last year, which featured people randomly running around singing songs by The Beatles. Despite some great tunes on the soundtrack, and U2's Bono singing "I Am the Walrus", the flick only made $24 million in domestic theatres, which probably barely covered the music licensing.
The writers behind the flick, Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, were apparently undeterred by Across the Universe's mediocre box office showing. According to Movieweb, the duo, along with director Julie Tamar, are planning another movie musical, this time based on the music of the Rolling Stones.
Entitled Ruby Tuesday (after the Jagger-Richards hit), the flick will apparently be rendered using CGI, and will go for a PG or PG-13 rating instead of the expected R.
Below are excerpts from the interview dealing with the proposed project, which was supposed to have started production in January.
